Tuguegarao mayor infected with coronavirus as ECQ enforced in city

TUGUEGARAO CITY-Mayor Jefferson Soriano on Friday (Jan. 22) said he has contracted SARS Cov2, the virus that causes COVID-19, and has gone on quarantine in a hospital.

In a radio announcement , Soriano said he could have been exposed to one of his staffers who had earlier tested positive for the virus.

The mayor said he was tested on Thursday (Jan. 21) along with three other co-workers. Two of them yielded positive results.

He has asked those who had direct contact with him to isolate themselves and inform the city government.

Soriano said he would continue working online with city government workers as he oversees the enforcement of the city’s enhanced community quarantine.
