MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Debold Sinas on Wednesday ordered the restrictive custody of the chief of Zamboanga Police’s drug enforcement unit, who tested positive for illegal drug use.

In a statement, Sinas identified the policeman as Police Major Jivertson Pelovello, who tested positive for narcotics after a random drug test of 60 Zamboanga City Police Office personnel was conducted last Jan. 6.

Sinas said Pelovello was reassigned to the Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Section of Police Regional Office 9 as he undergoes pre-charge investigation and summary dismissal proceedings.

In the same statement, Police Brigadier General Ronaldo Ylagan, Western Mindanao police regional director, reported to Sinas that Pelovello was already disarmed. Ylagan added that Pelovello is also facing administrative complaints.
