MANILA, Philippines — Newly-appointed Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chair Benhur Abalos Jr. and Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) board member Mark Lapid took their oath of office before President Rodrigo Duterte in Malacañang on Monday.
Abalos, a former mayor of Mandaluyong City, replaced retired General Danilo Lim as MMDA chair. Lim died last week.
Meanwhile, Lapid was appointed to the TIEZA board on January 5.

In 2008, Lapid was also appointed by former President Gloria Arroyo as acting general manager of the Philippine Tourism Authority, which was replaced by TIEZA in 2009 after the Tourism Act of 2009 was enacted.
