Vigan City seals deal for over 100K doses of AstraZeneca vaccine

More PH firms join bid to secure COVID-19 vaccine

MANILA, Philippines — Vigan City has reached an agreement with British pharmaceutical firm AstraZeneca for the advance purchase of 100,000 to 120,000 doses of its coronavirus vaccines.

According to Mayor Juan Carlo Medina, the multilateral agreement with AstraZeneca, the National Task Force Against COVID-19, and the Department of Health was signed on Sunday afternoon.

“We ordered doses enough to vaccinate all residents of Vigan City aged 18 years old and above,” Medina said in a statement.

Also on Sunday, Valenzuela City announced it secured 640,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine for its constituents.

Quezon City has also secured a supply deal with the British drugmaker.

Other local governments have also set aside funds for the purchase of coronavirus vaccines for their respective constituents to augment the national government’s vaccination drive.
