Resolution on admin case of killer cop may be out by Jan. 11 — Sinas
MANILA, Philippines — The resolution on the administrative case of Staff Sergeant Jonel Nuezca on the fatal shooting of a woman and her son in Tarlac province may be out by Monday next week, January 11, according to Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Debold Sinas.
Sinas said the Internal Affairs Service (IAS) of the PNP has vowed to resolve by the end of this week the administrative case of Nuezca over the deaths of Sonya Gregorio, 52, and her son Frank Anthony, 25, in Paniqui, Tarlac on December 20 last year.
“The IAS who handles the case niya (Nuezca) promised to finish the case at the end of this week so we’ll have the resolution by Monday,” Sinas said in a press briefing on Monday.
He added that Brig. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr., chief of the National Capital Region Police Office, will be the one to decide if he will abide by the recommendation of the IAS regarding the case of Nuezca, who was assigned at the Parañaque City Police Crime Laboratory.
“Ganun po ang sistema na gagawin namin para mapabilis at ma-achieve namin ‘yung less than 30 days na pre-charge at summary hearing ni Police Staff Sergeant Jonel Nuezca,” the PNP chief added.
(That is the system we will do so that we can hasten the process and we can achieve the less than 30 days of pre-charge and summary hearing of Police Staff Sergeant Jonel Nuezca.)
Sinas has assured that Nuezca, who was also indicted with two counts or murder, will be dismissed from the PNP over the incident.
IAS chief Atty. Alfegar Triambulo earlier said the unit aims to resolve the case of the policeman within 30 days.
