BFP records less fire incidents in 2021 New Year celebrations

MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) recorded a drop in fire incidents during New Year’s Eve celebrations, with only 29 cases this year.

BFP spokesperson Supt. Annalee Carbajal-Atienza on Friday said the number of fire, which were recorded from 12 midnight of Dec. 31 until 6 a.m. of Jan. 1., is way lower than the 144 fire incidents recorded in the same period last year.

“Malaki po ang binaba ng ating fire incidents ngayon sa pagpasok ng 2021 [We have a significant drop in the number of fire incidents as we usher in 2021],” she said.

The Department of Health also reported an 85% drop in firework-related injuries this year, with only 50 cases.
