Boy, 7, dead in Quezon highway mishap
LUCENA CITY –– A 7-year-old boy was killed after he was hit by a speeding van along the Maharlika Highway in Candelaria town in Quezon province before midnight Thursday, police said Friday.
The Candelaria police said Jhon Rey Abu was crossing the highway in Barangay Masin Norte around 11 p.m. when he was hit by a Suzuki Ertiga driven by Kenneth Enriquez, 24.
Abu suffered severe injuries in different parts of his body and was taken to the Peter Paul Medical Center in the town center but died on the way.
The police arrested Enriquez, who is now detained at the local police jail.
