LPAs may bring rains to Bicol Region, Calabarzon, Mimaropa on Sunday — Pagasa
MANILA, Philippines — The low-pressure areas (LPAs) being monitored by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) may continue to bring rains in Bicol Region, Calabarzon, and Mimaropa on Sunday.
In a weather forecast issued by Pagasa on Saturday afternoon, senior weather specialist Chris Perez said the two LPAs being monitored by the agency are less likely to develop into a tropical depression.
“Bagamat maliit ang tsansa na maging bagyo itong dalawang nabanggit nating LPA ay patuloy tayong magmomonitor sapagkat posibleng bukas ay makaapekto pa rin sa ibang bahagi ng ating bansa. Partikular na dito sa Luzon, asahan na apektado pa rin posible ng mga LPA itong Bicol Region, Calabarzon, at Mimaropa,” he said.
(Even if the two LPAs have a low chance of developing into a storm. We are still monitoring it as it could still affect the weather in some parts of the country tomorrow. In Luzon, the LPAs may still affect the weather in Bicol Region, Calabarzon, and Mimaropa.)
According to Perez, one of the LPAs was last spotted 135 kilometers north northwest of Zamboanga City, while the other was last seen 185 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar.
“Bukas inaasahan na ang nabanggit na LPA, itong nasa bandang north-northwest ng Zamboanga City ay posibleng kumilos pakanluran-hilagang kanluran patungo sa western boundary ng PAR,” said Perez.

(The other LPA east of Visayas may approach the eastern section of southern Luzon tomorrow.)
Perez said the northeast monsoon or amihan would bring light rains in Cordillera Administrative Region and Cagayan Valley. Meanwhile, rain showers and thunderstorms may occur in the rest of southern Luzon.
The rest of Northern and Central Luzon, on the other hand, will experience an “improving” weather condition except for isolated rain showers and thunderstorms.
Further, Metro Manila will have cloudy skies with rain showers and thunderstorms.
There will also be “gradual improvement” in the weather condition in Western and Eastern Visayas and Mindanao, with isolated thunderstorms possibly occurring in the afternoon and evening. [ac]
