Partial truck ban enforced along Visayas, Mindanao Avenues in QC

MANILA, Philippines — A partial truck ban was imposed along Visayas and Mindanao Avenues in Quezon City to decongest traffic in the area during rush hour, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte said Thursday.

In a statement, Belmonte said she signed Ordinance No. SP-2984, S-2020, which prohibits trucks and other heavy vehicles from traversing Visayas and Mindanao Avenues from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The truck ban will not be enforced during Sundays and regular or special holidays, Belmonte said.

Covered by the ban are trucks with six or more wheels, regardless of purpose, nature, or use, said Belmonte.

The mayor, however, said fire trucks, garbage/hauling/dump trucks, police/military trucks or buses, and other similar motor vehicles “owned by or under contract with the government” are exempted from the ban.

Truck ban violators will be slapped with  P5,000 worth of fine or imprisonment of one year, or both, at the discretion of the court.
