MANILA, Philippines — A police officer was held in Taguig City on Wednesday for extorting money from a small business owner whom he linked to the drugs watchlist, Philippine National Police Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (PNP-IMEG) said on Thursday.

In a report, PNP-IMEG said Police Staff Sergeant Carlo Marsaba Sison was accosted in an entrapment operation at corner C6, Napindan Road in Barangay Napindan at 7:45 p.m.

The suspect was apprehended after he was caught receiving P15,000 cash he extorted from the victim.

The entrapment operation stemmed from the complainant’s issue that Sison claimed that the victim is included in the drugs watchlist targeted for “neutralization.”

The errant policeman said the victim’s name will be erased from the list of personalities if the victim would give P15,000.

PNP IMEG director Police Colonel Thomas Frias Jr. said they are investigating if Sison had other victims.

Seized from Sison were PNP-issued Glock 17 semi-automatic pistol, P15,000 marked money and two cell phones.

Sison was already disarmed and detained at PNP-IMEG. He will also face charges for extortion.
