Davao del Sur Vice Gov. Cagas suspended for 90 days

04:49 AM December 09, 2020

MANILA, Philippines — The Sandiganbayan has suspended Davao del Sur Vice Gov. Marc Douglas Cagas for 90 days for alleged involvement in the pork barrel scam.

Cagas was accused of malversation and graft for channeling some P11 million in pork to dubious nongovernmental organizations from 2007 to 2009 when he was a member of the House of Representatives.

The Commission on Audit found that Cagas’ projects were non-existent, while the Ombudsman found the projects’ documents to be fabricated. Cagas allegedly got P5.5 million in kickbacks through his representative Zenaida Ducut.
