Calabarzon’s 5th most wanted fugitive falls in Quezon

LUCENA CITY — A wanted man facing rape case was caught in Mauban town in Quezon province Saturday, police said.

Police Colonel Audie Madrideo, Quezon police chief, in a report identified the arrested fugitive as farmer Rodante Derecho, 58, who was fifth in the list of wanted criminals in the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) region.

Reports said Derecho was caught by police operatives armed with a warrant of arrest in his safehouse at the village of Lual Bario around 11:20 a.m.

Velasquez is facing a rape case at the Regional Trial Court Branch 64 in Mauban since June 4, 2020 with no bail recommended. He was accused of sexual abuse of a minor whom he allegedly victimized while playing alone inside his house.

The suspect was detained in Mauban police jail.
