“May kinreate na SITG ang Laguna PPO [Laguna Police Provincial office] (Laguna police already created a task force),” Police Lieutenant Bicomong Elfredo, public information office chief of Laguna police provincial office, said in a phone interview with INQUIRER.net.
Perez was shot two times in the head inside the municipal hall at 8:45 p.m., according to initial police reports.
Perez was earlier included in the government’s so-called narcolist or list of government officials allegedly involved in the illegal drugs trade.
For now, police said the motive behind the mayor’s slay is still unknown.
Mayor Perez’s younger brother Ruel was also killed three years ago in Barangay Maahas.
