MANILA, Philippines — A fake account of Vice President Leni Robredo’s daughter Tricia Robredo has been making its rounds on social media, which has been sending hate messages to various netizens.

According to the Vice President, the fake Facebook account copied how Tricia’s profile looks like — similar profile pictures and cover photos.  Robredo told netizens that Tricia only has one Facebook account, and it is verified by the social media company which means it has a check beside her name.

“Someone is pretending to be Tricia and has been sending hate messages. Ginaya niya pati mga profile pic and entries. And this fake account has a lot of followers already,” Robredo said in her own Facebook account on Friday night.

Robredo then called on people on social media to report the fake accounts, which she said is being promoted by “sick minds” who insist that her daughter has been the one sending the hate messages.

“Yung fake account, siya yung nasa right picture, obviously being promoted by sick minds. Deactivated yung fake account now (so pls don’t report anymore kasi baka ma report nyo yung verified account) but if you followed her or received a friend invite from the fake account, please unfriend,” the Vice President said.

“If you see anyone involved in the fake account, please report them,” she added.  “Again, this is now the culture being promoted in our midst — a culture of hate and lies. Let us not succumb to this. Hindi ganito tayong mga Filipino. We are so much better than this.”

Tricia has been in the news lately for two reasons: first, after Malacañang revealed that President Rodrigo Duterte’s late night rant against the Vice President stemmed from her daughters’ tweet supposedly looking for the President amid Typhoon Ulysses — despite the Tricia and Aika Robredo never mentioning anyone.

Then just recently, Tricia passed the physician licensure examination, becoming a doctor.  Robredo took pride in her daughter’s achievements, while Tricia then posted a photo of her old letter to her parents about her hardships in studying.
