Zamora wants persons aged 15 to 65 allowed to go outside in Metro Manila

MANILA, Philippines — San Juan Mayor Francis Zamora on Friday said he will propose to allow Metro Manila residents aged 15 to 65 years old to leave their home amid the general community quarantine (GCQ).

“Sana iyong age nang makalabas, right now it is 15 to 65 but some Metro Manila cities have implemented 18 to 65 [years old to go outside]  because the MMC [Metro Manila Council] decided this. But on Sunday, I will propose na maging 15 to 65 [years old] na siya muli sapagka’t iyong edad labing lima naman, they are already big enough,” Zamora told reporters after his inspection at Greenhills Shopping Center.

(I hope those aged 15 to 65 will be allowed to go out because right now, some Metro Manila cities implemented laws that only 18 to 65 years old will be allowed to go outside because the MMC decided this. But on Sunday I will propose that 15 to 65 years old should be allowed to leave their homes because that age group can manage.)

“Hindi naman sila prone mahawa unlike iyong mas bata talaga at senior citizens naman. I hope pumayag sila  [MMC] sa proposal natin,” he further said.

(They are not prone to the transmission of the virus, unlike younger and senior citizens. I hope MMC will approve our proposal.)

The national government already eased the quarantine protocols by allowing those aged 15 to 65 to go outside their residence.

But the MMC agreed that only those belonging to the age group 18 to 65 may go outside for fear that infections might increase.
