Shake-up continues: Another Cayetano ally booted out from House post
MANILA, Philippines — The leadership shake-up continues in the House of Representatives more than a month after the Speakership change, as another known ally of former Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano was axed from a key post.
During Wednesday’s session, Bulacan Rep. Jose Antonio Sy-Alvarado was replaced as the chairman of the House committee on good government and public accountability.
Sy-Alvarado was replaced by DIWA Partlist Rep. Michael Aglipay, an ally of Speaker Lord Allan Velasco.
The Bulacan lawmaker is only among the list of Cayetano allies who were stripped of their leadership post.
First to take a hit was Camarines Sur 2nd Dist. Rep. Luis Raymund Villafuerte Jr., one of the most vocal allies of Cayetano, who was stripped off his deputy speakership post merely a day into Velasco’s stint as the new speaker of the House.
Villafuerte was replaced by 1-PACMAN Party-list Rep. Mikee Romero, who Cayetano previously removed as deputy speaker at the height of the speakership row.
