4 dead in fire following collision of vans in Negros Occidental town
BACOLOD CITY—Four persons died a fiery death following a collision between a passenger van and another van carrying a fuel tank in the town of Valladolid, Negros Occidental province past midnight on Tuesday (Nov. 24).
The fatalities on board one of the vehicles, an Isuzu van, were identified as Wendel Larios and his brother, Carlos both residents of Mabinay town, according to Capt. Wilfredo Benoman Jr., Valladolid police chief.
The two other fatalities in the other vehicle, a Fuso van, were identified as Diany Garcia and Evel Elostrisimo, Benoman said.
Witnesses said they saw a passenger trying to get out of one of the vans which had already caught fire. They said they could not get near the vehicles because of the flames.
According to initial investigation, the Fuso van collided head-on with the Isuzu van with the collision being followed by fire. Benoman said the Fuso van was carrying fuel tank which was believed to have exploded and caused the fire.
