Nueva Ecija trader slain in gun attack

SANTA ROSA, Nueva Ecija — Unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle killed an owner of a mango plantation in the town of Jaen on Monday afternoon, police said.

Police identified the victim as Nicasio Yuson Jr., 75, a resident of Barangay Sapang.

Investigation showed that the victim was driving a Toyota Fortuner when he was successively shot by assailants upon reaching a bridge around 12:45 p.m.

The victim suffered three gunshot wounds from a still-undetermined caliber.

Investigators have yet to establish the motive behind the attack.

Police Maj. Fortune Dianne Bernardo, officer-in-charge of Santa Rosa Police Station, said a dragnet operation was launched to arrest the gunmen.
