Aurora placed under state of calamity in the wake of Typhoon Ulysses

MANILA, Philippines — The province of Aurora was placed under a state of calamity in the wake of the destruction brought by  Typhoon Ulysses.

“Matapos matanggap ang kahilingan ni Governor Gerardo A. Noveras para sa pagdaraos ng Special Session ng Sangguniang Panlalawigan na kagyat namang tinugon sa pamamagitan ng pagpasa ng Resolution No. 232 na nagsasailalim sa State of Calamity ang buong Lalawigan ng Aurora dahil sa malawakang pinsala sa pangkabuhayan, impraistruktura, pangsakahan, at kabahayan na dulot ng bagyong Ulysses,” the announcement from the Facebook page of the provincial government of Aurora read.

(After receiving the request of Governor Gerardo Noveras for the Special Session of the Provincial Council, Resolution No. 232 was granted which places the whole province of Aurora under a state of calamity due to widespread destruction of infrastructure, agriculture, and housing due to Typhoon Ulysses.)

It was on Thursday when Ulysses brought strong winds and rains in Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, and in Metro Manila.

Aurora’s neighboring provinces, Isabela and Cagayan, were also placed under a state of calamity due to widespread flood brought by the typhoon.
