Residents of flood-hit Marikina village call for rescue

MANILA, Philippines — Some Marikina residents are now calling to be rescued as floodwater continue to rise amid the onslaught of Typhoon Ulysses.

Anne Celeste shared photos of her family’s house showing that the floodwaters have reached the electric lines and third floor of their home.

Celeste said her family lives at 9 Stanford Street in Provident Village, Marikina City.

To recall, Provident Village was also devastated by Typhoon Ondoy (international name: Ketsana) in 2012.

Marikina Public Information Office said those in need of rescue may call the hotlines of the Marikina City Disaster Risk Reduction And Management and Marikina Rescue 161:

As of posting, the Marikina River is now at the third alarm while its water level is at 21.8 meters.

Ulysses has weakened but Signal No. 3 remains hoisted over the National Capital Region and 8 other Luzon areas.
