A woman got arrested after pretending to be a federal agent in Georgia, United States, to convince restaurant staff that she should be given free food.
Kimberly George Ragsdale, 47, of Dallas was taken into custody last week at the parking lot of a Chick-fil-A branch in Rockmart, as per local news outlet Polk Today on Nov. 6.
Staff reported to authorities that Ragsdale has been pretending to be a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agent for several days. Ragsdale reportedly visited the said restaurant several times while driving a white minivan.
When police eventually confronted her, she still claimed that she was an agent and that her credentials were electronic, according to the report. Ragsdale refused to get out of the van at first and did not follow police instructions.
Once she was finally in custody, Ragsdale allegedly pretended to contact someone by talking into her shirt and saying that she is being arrested and to send “someone to Rockmart PD.”
Rockmart Police chief Randy Turner told the news outlet that they are not sure if Ragsdale has also tried the same scheme in other establishments but were not reported to them.
He also advised citizens that when someone is claiming to be an officer but cannot show the proper credentials, is not in uniform and is driving an unmarked car, they should report them to the police.
The police chief also noted that a real officer will not demand a free meal from any establishment, according to the report.
Ragsdale, who was charged with impersonating a public officer, was booked into the Polk County Jail but was later released on bond, as per The Polk County Standard Journal on Nov. 7. Ian Biong/JB
