2,442 new cases bring total COVID-19 count to 396,395

New COVID-19 cases in PH drop below 1,000; lowest recorded since July

MANILA, Philippines — The country has recorded 2,442 additional coronavirus disease cases, bringing the total number of cases to 396,395, the Department of Health (DOH) reported on Sunday.

Meanwhile, there were also 11,430 additional recoveries and 54 newly-reported deaths.

Composing the total count of COVID-19 cases in the country are 27,218 active cases (6.9 percent), 361,638 recoveries (91.2 percent), and 7,539 deaths (1.90 percent), according to the DOH.

Of the 2,442 newly-reported cases, 2,200 occurred within the last 14 days, or from October 26 to November 8.

“The top regions with cases in the recent two weeks were NCR (612 or 28 percent), Region 4A (522 or 24 percent), and Region III (167 or 8 percent),” DOH said.

Of the 54 deaths, 39 occurred on November, 12 in October, two in September, and one in August.

The DOH said the deaths were from Western Visayas (11), Metro Manila (10), Central Luzon (9), Calabarzon (8), Davao Region (5), Caraga (3), Ilocos Region (2), Central Visayas (2), Eastern Visayas (2), Zamboanga Peninsula (1) and Northern Mindanao (1).

Eight duplicates, including three recoveries, were removed from the total case count.

Meanwhile, five cases previously tagged as recoveries were also reclassified as deaths.

According to DOH, 13 laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Repository System on Saturday.
