NegOcc city removes border checkpoints vs COVID-19

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines  – Mayor Rogelio Raymund Tongson Jr. of Himamaylan City in Negros Occidental has lifted the border checkpoints in the city starting Saturday, November 7.

He, however, stressed the need to continue following the health protocols to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Those who want to enter the city, he said, must inform their barangay officials prior to their return so they can undergo a free swab test facilitated by the city government.

While waiting for the results, they will be placed in a quarantine facility.

If they test positive for COVID-19, the person should stay in a quarantine facility until ordered released.

The barangay officials were also tasked to notify the concerned purok presidents of the arrival of their residents.

To ensure the safety of other members of the community, those returning to Himamaylan during the weekend or during their rest days from work should stay inside their residences.

Tongson said returnees are strictly prohibited from going out of their houses while in Himamaylan except for those going back to work or going to other localities.
