MANILA, Philippines — The Typhoon Rolly death toll in Albay rose to four, Governor Al Francis Bichara said in a radio interview Sunday morning.
“Sa ngayon, apat pa lang iyong counted. Iyong tatlo related sa ilog, iyong overflow. Nawasak iyong dike at iyon iyong mga namatay,” Bichara said in an interview on dzBB.
(Only four deaths have been recorded, so far. Three were deaths related to an overflowing river when the dike broke,)
In a televised press briefing earlier, Bichara said only two fatalities from Polangui and Daraga were reported in Albay.
“May bata doon [sa casualties] 5 years old siguro sa tingin namin nakuha ng ibang barangay. Iyong batang iyon malamang inanod iyon, nabitawan siguro,” Bichara added.
(One of the casualties is a 5-year-old child, who may have been swept away by the strong current).
“Iyong isa nasalanta ng malaking punong kahoy.”
(The other person died due to a falling tree branches.)
