4 elderlies die of COVID-19 in Eastern Visayas; 80 get infected

TACLOBAN CITY –– At least four persons died of the coronavirus in Eastern Visayas on Wednesday and Thursday, bringing the death toll in the region to 46.

Three of them––a 36-year-old man from Mapanas town in Northern Samar; a 75-year-old man from La Paz town, Leyte; and a 67-year-old woman from Tacloban City––died on Wednesday.

The fourth fatality––a 78-year-old woman from Palo, Leyte––died on Thursday.

The four were buried immediately.

The Department of Health said Eastern Visayas has 4,085 cases of COVID-19 as of Friday.

The additional 80 cases came from Leyte with 55; Samar, 24; and one from Biliran.

The municipal government of Hilongos town in Leyte announced that the 17 persons who tested positive for the virus are asymptomatic and are now at their isolation facility.
