A man has been arrested for allegedly stealing a police dog, using “Vienna sausages” as bait in the city of Smithfield in Kentucky, USA.

Brandon Harmon, 26, was arrested on Aug. 26 on charges of theft and unlawful taking and second-degree criminal trespassing, as per Fox affiliate WDRB yesterday, Sept. 8.

Harmon first crossed paths with the police when he was reported for trespassing by one property owner. When the deputy found the suspect, he asked the police for a car ride, saying he was going to point out a stolen weed trimmer.

Harmon did show the deputy a weed trimmer, but it was not the stolen one, according to the report.

He then brought up the topic of the dog that went missing from another deputy’s property on Aug. 8, asking if the Henry County’s Sheriff’s Office knew what had happened to the K9.

The dog has since been found later in August, but was missing for some time, the report said.

When the deputy confronted him about what he knows about the K9, Harmon allegedly admitted that he “coaxed him out with Vienna sausages,” which led to his arrest. Ian Biong /ra
