64 test positive for COVID-19 bringing total cases in Eastern Visayas to 3,505

TACLOBAN CITY –– At least 64 more individuals tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Eastern Visayas on Wednesday, bringing its total number of infections to 3,505.

Of the new cases, 11 are from Calbayog City in Samar.

The Calbayog City Information Office said its new cases involve direct contacts of COVID-19 patients. Except for one, all were asymptomatic and are confined in their isolation facility.

Calbayog City has a total of 81 COVID-19 cases with 33 recoveries.

Mayor Ronaldo Aquino imposed quarantine measures in Calbayog to help contain the further spread of the virus.

“I know how to revive our economy, but I don’t know how to revive one’s life,” he said.

Calbayog is under general community quarantine (GCQ).

Meanwhile, Tacloban City Mayor Alfred Romualdez has issued Executive Order 2020-09-038 on Tuesday to extend the city’s GCQ status until the end of the month.

Curfew is from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.

Romualdez also directed all barangay officials not to allow the entry of non-residents of the city to contain the spread of the dreaded virus.

Tacloban City has 547 cases of COVID-19 with four deaths.
