Roque negative for coronavirus

MANILA, Philippines — Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque on Monday said he already tested negative for the novel coronavirus.

“I myself got tested for COVID-19 last Saturday and it yielded a negative result,” Roque said in a statement.

During his regular briefing, Roque said he placed himself on quarantine after one of his security aides contracted COVID-19.

“The aforesaid aide is, however, not my assigned close-in security but the one in charge of my vehicle,” Roque said.

“There is no need for the media who covered me during last Saturday’s event to quarantine since my aide who tested positive did not leave the vehicle,” he went on.

The Palace official also earlier placed himself in isolation after Interior Secretary Eduardo Año contracted COVID-19 anew. The latter has since recovered from the respiratory disease.
