MANILA, Philippines—A man was killed while his wife was left badly injured after still unidentified suspects riding in tandem fired successive shots at them early Monday in Pasig City, police said.

Police Officer 2 Amado Katimbang said that the couple, identified as Ronaldo,44, and Elena Sison,44, had just come out from the convenience store of Petron gasoline station along Mercedes Avenue in Barangay (village) San Miguel in Pasig City after buying some snacks around 7:30 a.m. when the suspects on board a motorcycle fired at them using a still unidentified firearm.

The victims were immediately rushed to The Medical City in Pasig, but Ronaldo was declared dead on arrival by his attending physician, he said.

Katimbang said that police were conducting further investigation to determine the motive behind the killing and for possible identification of the suspects.
