LTO chief says she’s ready to face probes on Stradcom issue

MANILA, Philippines—Land Transportation Office (LTO) head Virginia Torres says she is ready to face any investigation of her actions in relation to the ownership dispute over Stradcom Corp., the database technology provider of the LTO.

“All of my actions were documented and they have all been above-board,” she said in an interview on Wednesday. “I am ready to face any investigation any time,” she said.

She likewise said she would stay at her post as head of the LTO and would only leave if President Benigno Aquino III asked her to do so.

Her return from a leave of absence, during which no investigation on her actions took place, has been linked to the resignation of Secretary Jose de Jesus from the Department of Transportation and Communications.

The President’s defeated running mate, former Senator Mar Roxas, has been appointed to take De Jesus’ place on June 30.
