/ 04:57 PM August 18, 2020

MANILA, Philippines — Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. was rushed to the hospital after he tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) more than a week ago.

In a Facebook post, Revilla’s wife Bacoor Mayor Lani Mercado said the senator’s X-ray showed that he has developed pneumonia.

“Father God, pls help my husband. He is being rushed to the hospital. His latest X-ray shows that he has developed pneumonia and isolation in a regular facility is no longer ideal,” she said.

“Hospital care badly needed. Father, we lift him up to you,” she added.

Following his wife’s post about his condition, Revilla shared a Facebook live, where he asked for the public’s prayer.

“Maganda araw po,” he said.

“Okay, laban…[Ang] hirap,” the senator, who talked through a series of coughing fits, added.

“Please pray for me. Please,” he said before ending his live video, which is no longer accessible on his Facebook account.

Revilla announced that he contracted COVID-19 last August 9.

He is the fourth senator to test positive for the virus, which has already infected nearly 170,000 in the country.
