Duterte meets IATF, to announce new quarantine measures in NCR, nearby provinces

MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday met with select members of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on Emerging Infectious Diseases and is expected to announce new quarantine classifications of Metro Manila and its nearby provinces.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque confirmed this in a message to reporters.

“PRRD meeting now with select members of Cabinet and Sen Bong Go. Present physically are Sen Go and [Budget] Sec [Wendel] Avisado. Joining via zoom are [Health] Secs Duque, [Defense Secretary] Lorenzana, [National Task Force on COVID-19 chief implementer] Galvez and the undersigned,” Roque said.

“PRRD will address the nation tonight,” he added.

Metro Manila, Bulacan, Laguna, Cavite and Rizal are under modified enhanced community quarantine until Tuesday, August 18. [ac]
