House logs new COVID-19 case, total now at 45; 34 recover
MANILA, Philippines — Another employee of the House of Representatives tested positive for the coronavirus, driving the total tally to 45.
House Secretary-General Jose Luis Montales on Monday said the latest case is an employee of the Journal Service, who has been working from home since March 23.
“She went briefly to her office on August 6. During the night, she started experiencing symptoms,” he said in a statement.
Of the total tally in the House, 34 have already recovered, he added.
Meanwhile, four have succumbed to the disease, including Senior Citizens Rep. Francisco Datol Jr.
As of August 17, there are 164,474 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Philippines, with 112,759 recoveries and 2,681 fatalities. [ac]
