ITBAYAT, BATANES — A 5.4-magnitude earthquake hit Sabtang, the southernmost island town of Batanes on Sunday morning, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
The earthquake’s epicenter was traced 57 kilometers southeast of Sabtang.
Some residents said the latest temblor, which struck at 10:53 a.m, damaged some houses.
It had a depth of 2 km and was tectonic in origin.
Phivolcs said aftershocks are expected.
