MANILA, Philippines — Deputy Speaker and Basilan Rep. Mujiv Hataman Hataman on Wednesday said he has recovered from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and that he has been released from quarantine by his doctors.

“Maraming salamat sa inyong mga dasal. Ako at ang aking maybahay na si Mayor Dadah ay magaling na, maganda na ang pakiramdam at wala na ang kahit na anong sintomas ng virus,” Hataman said in a Facebook post.

Hataman said that his children also tested negative for the virus as he encouraged those infected with COVID-19 to “come forward and make themselves known.”

There are a total of 42 COVID-19 cases in the House of Representatives.

Sessions in the House will likewise be suspended until Monday, August 17, in response to the clamor of its employees who still have to report to work regularly despite the recent upsurge of COVOD-19 cases in Metro Manila.

Majority Leader Martin Romualdez said that the session break will allow thorough disinfection of all offices and facilities in the House and to give employees a “brief respite” from the aggravation caused by the spike in COVID cases.
