A FORMER inmate was shot dead in barangay Lagtang, Talisay City, southern Cebu.
Ryan Briones, 22, was found slumped by the roadside with a gunshot wound in the head past 7 p.m. last Thursday.
Police said Briones came from a drinking session with his father and some friends.
The victim decided to go home ahead of the group. Shortly after he left, a gunshot rang out.
A bloodied Briones was later found slumped near a cargo truck owned by Felix Echavez.
Echavez told police that he was fixing the starter of the truck when he heard bursts of gunfire.
Echavez said he didn’t see anyone when Briones was shot.
The victim was rushed to the Talisay District Hospital but did not make it alive.
Police recovered an empty shell of a .45 pistol in the crime scene.
PO3 Ferdinand Pablo, investigator of the Talisay City police station, said Briones was jailed in October 2011 for theft charges.
