Cabbie robbed in Mandaue

A 32-YEAR-OLD taxi driver was robbed at gunpoint by three men who posed as passengers in barangay Cambaro, Mandaue City.

Ivan Herebise, driver of CTC taxi with plate number GXL-481, said he lost P1,500 in earnings in the robbery, which took place at dawn Friday.

Herebise told police that three men flagged him down in T. Padilla Street, Cebu City, and asked to be brought to barangay Tayud, Consolacion.

As they traveled along Ouano Street in Cambaro, one of the passengers at the backseat pointed a .45 pistol at him and declared a holdup.

The two other men took the driver’s money. Herebise was told to disembark while the robbers commandered the taxi.

The taxi driver reported the robbery to the Opao police precinct. The taxi was later recovered abandoned in barangay Laray, Consolacion. CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA
