OVP to resume free shuttle service for health frontliners

MANILA, Philippines — The Office of the Vice President (OVP) will resume its free shuttle service to ferry health frontliners in Metro Manila, as the capital region and nearby provinces are set to be placed again under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).

In a Facebook post on Monday, the OVP said the shuttle service will run in eight routes amid the upcoming suspension of mass transport operations in the region during the stricter community quarantine setup.

“Bilang tugon sa inaasahang pangangailangan ng ating frontliners sa transportasyon sa loob ng two-week implementation ng MECQ, muling ihahandog ng Tanggapan ni Vice President Leni Robredo ang free shuttle service para sa kanila,” the OVP announced.

As requested by the medical community, President Rodrigo Duterte earlier agreed to reimpose stricter lockdown measures in Metro Manila and nearby provinces due to the continuous increase of COVID-19 cases under relaxed community quarantine measures.

Metro Manila, Laguna, Cavite, Rizal, and Bulacan will be placed again under MECQ from August 4 to 18.
