2 face raps for escaping from quarantine in Negros Occidental to buy liquor

BACOLOD CITY –– Two locally stranded individuals (LSIs) are facing charges after they allegedly escaped from a quarantine facility in Talisay City, Negros Occidental to buy alcoholic drinks.

“They violated protocols. Sadly, it is clear that they did not think of the possibility of infecting other people if they turned out to be COVID-19-positive,” said Mayor Neil Lizares.

The two LSIs were apprehended by the police and fortunately tested negative for the coronavirus.

But Lizares said the actions of the two individuals should not be justified nor tolerated.

“They must be meted with proper legal sanctions,” the mayor said.

“The panic and worry that this incident brought should not be forgotten. This should be a wake-up call to all who continue to violate the rules set forth by the government for our safety,” he added.

Lizares said his primary goal during this pandemic is to make sure that Talisaynons are safe and protected.

“In these trying times, the solution to this pandemic lies within us. It always starts with us being responsible in our actions,” he said.

“The government can only do so much, the cooperation of all is the driving force that will make us win this battle,” he added.
