70,000 contact tracers deployed nationwide
MANILA, Philippines — Nearly 70,000 contact tracers have been deployed nationwide to help track down persons infected with the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and people who have been exposed to carriers.
Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said the department was still pushing to hire 50,000 more contact tracers “to further intensify our contact tracing efforts.”
Año said on Sunday that the 69,098 contact tracers were assigned to 5,215 contact tracing teams nationwide who were monitoring COVID-19 patients and persons they came in contact with.
