Dong Li, the Chinese woman who thwacked Makati traffic enforcers, faces criminal raps

MANILA, Philippines — A Chinese woman is facing criminal complaints of physical injury and disobedience to a person of authority after engaging in a heated argument with traffic enforcers in Makati City, police said Wednesday.

Makati City police station identified the suspect as Dong Li, 27, a resident of Barangay Bel-Air in Makati.

The suspect was arrested on Tuesday afternoon after she allegedly argued with traffic enforcers and whacked them with an umbrella, according to police.

Makati police said Li allegedly punched the face of a member of the Makati Public Safety Department along Makati Avenue corner Jupiter Street in Barangay Bel-Air. The incident was also recorded on video and went viral on social media.

Li is now detained at Makati police while police are preparing criminal complaints against her. [ac]
