CABBIE, STUDE ROBBED

A TAXI driver and a female college student lost cash and valuables in separate armed robberies in Mandaue City.

Albert Embalsado, 39, driver of M&J taxi, was robbed by two men who posed as passengers at dawn yesterday.

Embalsado told police that two men flagged him down along a road in barangay Maguikay about 1 a.m. The men asked to be brought to barangay Tayud in Consolacion.

Embalsado said that he was shocked when one of the passengers pointed a revolver at him and declared a holdup.

The taxi drier said the robbers took his earnings amounting to P1,000. He said the robbers urged him to continue driving until he found the opportunity to jump out of the vehicle near Marian Village in Tayud.

Embalsado ran to the police station to report the robbery.

The taxi was later found abandoned in barangay Laray, Consolacion.

In barangay Casuntingan, Rhea Satinitigan, 22, was robbed by two men on a motorcycle while she was walking home last Monday night.

Police said that while the woman was walking, two men on a motorcycle blocked and pointed a gun at her.

The two men took the woman’s wallet with P500 cash and other valuables.

The robbers sped off toward barangay Cabancalan.

’HOT’ BOULDERS SEIZED IN LAPU

A TRUCKLOAD of Mactan stones were seized in  barangay Agus, Lapu-Lapu City, last Friday noon.

Police said the stones were seized after the driver of the dump truck failed to present papers authorizing them to haul the boulders.

The confiscation  made by the Task Force Kalikasan was headed by SPO1 Jomar Ybanez of Lapu-Lapu City Police Office.

The team rushed to sitio Malinao around 4 p.m. after receiving a report that a dump truck was seen hauling stones.

The seized Mactan stones measuring 10 cubic meters will be turned over to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

A city ordinance prohibits the extraction and delivery of Mactan stones in Lapu-Lapu City  unless a special permit is secured. /CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA

FETUS FOUND

A FETUS of baby boy was found abandoned under a bridge connecting Lapu-Lapu City and Cordova town, off Mactan Island Cebu.

The fetus, believed to be between four and five months old, was found by bystanders wrapped in a white plastic bag.

Police said a man and a woman were earlier spotted hurriedly leaving near the area where the fetus was found.
