Barangay tanods (watchmen) rushed Dilao to the Manila Central University Hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival.

Caloocan City Mayor Oscar Malapitan mourned Dilao’s death in a Facebook post.

(From the time that I was still a congressman, I was personally close to Dilao, who loves his family, a kind friend, and a thoughtful leader to his constituents.)

Malapitanadded that he has ordered Caloocan Police chief Col. Dario Menor to investigate the shooting incident.
