Bailey bridge in Bago City’s village collapses

BACOLOD CITY – Access to the Bago City COVID-19 Community Isolation Facility in Barangay Ilijan, Bago City was cut off after a bailey bridge collapsed at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 6.

No one was hurt during the incident.

Residents of Barangay Ilijan were advised to take an alternative route via La Carlota City.

Merijene Ortizo, head of the Bago City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, said a dump truck carrying tons of gravel caused the bridge worth about P50 million to crumble.

“The bridge can only carry a maximum of six tons,” the report said.

The dump truck owned by Ricardo Guevara was driven by Jose Arnel Española, 34, of Barangay Caridad, Bago City.
