A high school teacher was arrested after asking a student for “sexy” pictures in Virginia, United States.

Stephen Kirsch contacted a former student of his through “a popular social media application” on May 25, as per CBS-affiliate WTVR last Thursday, May 28.

“Kirsch suggested the exchange of ‘sexy’ pictures between the two and made several sexually suggestive and inappropriate comments, to include his intent of masturbation,” a police spokesperson told the news outlet.

Following Kirsch’s message, the student reported his requests and comments to the administrators of Culpeper County High School. Kirsch has taught math at the school for the past six years while his former student continues to attend classes there.

Upon receiving the student’s email, the school’s administration quickly informed the child’s parents and local authorities.

Officers then took Kirsch into custody, as per report. He was charged with using a communications system for the purposes of soliciting, with lascivious intent, a person less than 18 years of age.

Kirsch was later released on an unsecured bond worth $5,000 (over P252,000). Ryan Arcadio/JB
