MANILA, Philippines — The Navotas City government has waived all maintenance and facility rental fees for those living in its housing projects for the months of March, April, May and June, saying that payments already made would be applied to future billings.
Under City Ordinance No. 2020-29 signed on May 22, residents of Navotaas Homes in Barangays San Roque and Tanza 2 are exempted from paying the P300 monthly maintenance fee for their units.
Mayor Toby Tiangco said that because of the extension of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) until May 31 in San Roque and the modified ECQ being enforced in Tanza 2, residents were affected financially.
“Some have lost their jobs, others have not been able to go to work for various reasons. We hope that by waiving the housing fees, we can somehow lighten their burden and help them as they face this crisis,” he added.
According to the city public information office (PIO), units at the housing projects are free of charge. Tenants, however, must pay a fee when they rent the multipurpose halls and stalls at the Navokabuhayan building to put up businesses that will provide them with a source of livelihood.
