MANILA, Philippines — The local government of Muntinlupa City has reminded residents to ride only in registered tricycles after it allowed drivers to resume operations.
Of the 4,174 tricycle owners who renewed their permits, 2,761 have been issued official stickers and quarantine passes for their drivers as of Tuesday, according to Danidon Nolasco, Muntinlupa traffic management bureau chief.
Tricycles bearing no stickers and quarantine passes are considered “colorum.”
Under Executive Order No. 15, series of 2020, signed by Mayor Jaime Fresnedi, tricycles are allowed to resume operations three times a week between 5 a.m. and midnight. They are all banned on Sundays to give way to the disinfection of terminals.
The 26 Tricycle Operators and Drivers Associations are currently implementing an odd-even scheme in which all members whose tricycle regulatory unit numbers end in odd digits will be allowed on the road on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, while those ending in even digits can operate on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
