COVID-19 cash aid recipient nabbed in Quezon drug sting
LUCENA CITY –– Police arrested a suspected a drug pusher in Lopez, Quezon on Friday night, who turned out to be a recipient of the government’s emergency cash aid under the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) to cope with the COVID-19 crisis.
Major Margarito Umali, Lopez police chief, reported that anti-illegal drug operatives collared Rani Arellano, 47, after he sold “shabu” (crystal meth) to an undercover police officer in a transaction in Barangay Cogorin Ilaya around 8:30 p.m.
The suspect reportedly included in the list of SAP beneficiaries in the village, yielded four plastic sachets of shabu worth P800 in the street market.
The suspect is facing charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
