Two children of a Manila councilor and four others were arrested on Thursday afternoon in a buy-bust operation in Tondo after councilor Jesus Fajardo reported to authorities the illegal drug activities in his area.

“I am personally asking the police and the barangay to take action against the suspects and stop their illegal activities,” Fajardo said, who knew that his two children were involved.

The suspects were identified as Michael Cuaresma, Rowena Canlas, Jayson Ramos, Jay Ramos, and Janeth and Jonathan Fajardo.

Police recovered 20 grams of “shabu” (crystal meth) worth P136,000 from the suspects’ home at Santa Barbara Street, Barangay 19. The group reportedly controlled the illegal drug trade in the village and a neighboring barangay. —Nikka G. Valenzuela
