Pagasa: Tropical Depression ‘Ambo’ to bring rains over parts of Mindanao

MANILA, Philippines — The trough of Tropical Depression Ambo will bring scattered light to moderate with isolated heavy rains in some parts of Mindanao in the next 24 hours, the weather state bureau said Sunday afternoon.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) advised residents of Caraga, Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, and Maguindanao to continuously monitor weather updates, especially the local rainfall or thunderstorm advisories and heavy rainfall warnings of Pagasa Regional Services Division (PRSD).

However, the raising of Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal in any locality of the country remains less likely in the next 48 hours, Pagasa noted.

Ambo became the first tropical cyclone to hit the country this year.

Moving west-northwest at 15 kilometers per hour (kph), Ambo was last seen 545 hm east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur as of 4 p.m. Sunday.

It has maximum sustained winds of up to 45 kph and gustiness of up to 55 kph.
